University of Maryland Baltimore is currently seeking a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator to join the Department of Surgery in the School of Medicine. The selected candidate leads the patient care activities of a cardiac transplant surgery intensive care unit for the care of non-human primates in a cardiac research model. Responsible for overseeing research projects, and ensuring that nurses are aware of study protocols. In a clinic setting, is responsible for day to day scheduling and coordinating clinical nurses in the post-operative care of our non-human primates. The position includes both a clinical role which will require on average four 12-hour and four 8-hour bedside shifts per month and a coordinator role. **This is a PART-TIME (20 hours per week), CONTRACTUAL position** UMB offers a generous benefits package that includes vacation days, personal days and holidays, sick days; comprehensive health insurance and supplemental retirement options; and limited tuition remission for employees enrolled at UMB. Essential Functions:Conducts patient care in non-human primate ICU.Supervises, trains, assigns work to, and evaluates ICU nurses.Responsible for overseeing the direct patient care in a cardiac surgery intensive care unit for the care of non-human primates in a cardiac research model.Coordinates the schedules of the OR and ICU nurses to ensure adequate staffing levels.Trains nurses in new procedures and/or changes in study protocol.Hires nurses or other staff as needed.Attending all relevant meetings with veterinary and surgical services - Arranging and scheduling above meetings when necessaryParticipates in grant and report writing as neededPerforms other duties as assigned. Qualifications:Education: Bachelors in NursingExperience: Five (5) years of experience as a registered nurse with at least six (6) months in a cardiac surgery intensive care unit. Positions within a research setting require at least 1 year of clinical research experience.
